The ‘47: Progress Report

By NBVFD
September 3, 2025

Over the Labor Day Weekend, Mike Torres sent some updated photos on the progress of the body and paint work he’s doing on the  NBVFD’s 1947 International John Bean High Pressure pumper.

And Tommy Gilmartin, owner of Tech 1 Automotive completed the purchase of a “donor truck” he plans to use for the motor, transmission, and other parts needed to complete the restoration. The donor truck is a 1947 International fire truck he happened to come across while searching for parts.

Finally, Bob’s Speedometer (Howell, MI) completed restoration of the dashboard gauge cluster, pump panel operations plate, and the builder’s plate.

Once Mike Torres finishes painting the cab and remounts the cab to the chassis, the chassis will be trailered to Tech 1 for Tommy to begin transferring the motor, transmission, and other components to Old Engine 1.

Needless to say, we are eagerly anticipating the next steps.
