By NBVFD
September 3, 2023

On Sunday, September 3, 2023, 0452 hours, Calvert County Emergency Operations Center dispatched North Beach VFD Squad 1, Calvert County Paramedic Ambulance 219 (from NBVFD Station 1), Huntingtown VFD Ambulance 69, the Calvert County EMS Supervisor (EMS 20), and the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office for a report of an auto vs. pedestrian in the 5800 blk of Bayside Road.

Units arrived to find a single patient in the southbound lane suffering from severe injuries and in cardiac arrest. Efforts to revive the patient were unsuccessful. The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office is investigating. The driver involved remained on the scene.

The NBVFD extends its condolences to the patient’s family and the driver involved.

Pedestrians are reminded of the following safety precautions:

1. Where no sidewalks are provided, walk as close to or on the roadway shoulder, facing oncoming traffic.

2. If using ear pods or headphones, keep one ear free so you can hear what is going on around you.

3. When walking in the dark, wear light colored clothing, carry a flashlight, or use your cell phone flashlight to alert traffic of your presence.
