| Today, Chip’s Transport (Huntingtown) moved Old Engine 1 from the firehouse to the next phase of its restoration. Tommy Gilmartin of Tech 1 Auto (Owings) will be starting work on restoring the truck to a mechanically sound and roadworthy condition.
The work will entail evaluating the motor, transmission, cooling system, braking system, and suspension, and making the necessary repairs. This will take several months. In the meantime, we’ll be getting the brightwork restored, the ladders rebuilt (in-house by one of our senior members, Orval Thrasher), and the truck ready for the body shop.
