| It is with profound sadness that the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department announces the death of Past Deputy Chief Willard C. “Smoky” Ward Jr., brother of Past Chief and Life Member Wayne Ward Sr. Smoky was an active, contributing member of the NBVFD for many years, was a veteran, and a retired Metropolitan Police Department homicide detective, where he served with distinction.
Smoky is remembered for his dedication to fire department fundraising efforts and the joy he experienced crabbing and fishing with family and friends.
A celebration of life is planned for Friday, July 31, 2026 at Hardesty Hall, adjacent to the firehouse. Times to follow. Please keep the Ward family in your thoughts at this difficult time. |
