North Beach Volunteer Fire Department Celebrates 100 Years of Service with Upcoming August Events

The North Beach Volunteer Fire Department (NBVFD) is proud to announce that it is marking a century of dedicated service, bravery, and community commitment.

Founded Aug. 4, 1926, the department has protected lives and property throughout generations, responding to emergencies, fires, and disasters while evolving alongside the community it serves. To honor this historic milestone, the department will host a variety of centennial celebrations featuring special events, commemorations, and opportunities for the public to connect with past and present members.

“Reaching 100 years is an incredible achievement, especially for a volunteer organization,” said NBVFD Chief Steve Stanton II. “This centennial is not just a celebration of our department’s history, but a tribute to the volunteers – past and present – who have selflessly given their time and courage to serve our community.”

Centennial activities in August will include stories on social media, events at the Chesapeake Beach Railway Museum Aug. 3, the Bayview History Museum Aug. 5, and a presentation on the history of the station featuring NBVFD Fire Chief 1A John Tippett, author of the soon-to-be-released book “North Beach and Vicinity: The first 100 years of the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department” at the Twin Beaches Library Aug. 6 (register here for Aug. 6 event). The public is also invited to enjoy a fire department parade through the town of North Beach on Aug. 8. with the parade stepping off at 3 p.m. and ending at the fire house for a community open house and fire apparatus muster until 8 p.m.

In addition, as part of its centennial celebrations, the NBVFD has partnered with Rosedale Entertainment to put on an old-fashioned carnival on the firehouse grounds, Aug. 18-22. Pre-sale tickets are available at the firehouse for $20. The pre-sale ticket entitles the purchaser to present the ticket for a wristband and ride all the rides for one price. Stop by the firehouse to get your tickets as soon as possible. The pre-sales will run from now until Aug. 17. Wristbands can be purchased from Aug. 18-22 at the carnival entrance for $35.

“The support of our community has always been the foundation of our success,” added Stanton. “We look forward to celebrating this milestone together and continuing our mission for the next 100 years.”
