Work continues on bringing Old Engine 1, North Beach’s 1947 John Bean International pumper. Mike Torres (body and paint) reported he is going to paint the hood, cowl, and other smaller parts this week. The tank he had fabricated is back, along with the running boards and tailboard that needed to be built.

Tommy Gilmartin (mechanical) continues to make progress on the engine and parts swap from the donor truck. After some coaxing, the donor engine is running smooth and being prepped for transfer from the donor truck to Old Engine 1.

Librandi’s is also making progress on the 100+ pieces of metal that needed to be re-plated.

The goal is to have the truck participate in our upcoming Centennial Parade and Old Fashioned Muster on Saturday, August 8, 2026. Click https://www.northbeachfire.com/content/centennial/  for more information about the event.

We are indebted to the dedication of the craftsmen bringing the truck back to life, and look forward to being able to show it as it would have appeared when it was delivered to the Dayton Avenue firehouse.
