| On Saturday, April 18, 2026, Oliver Fox and Ryan King, two Calvert CTA Cadets who are members of Company 1, traveled to Carroll County (MD) for the State Skills USA Firefighting competition. Participants were graded on firefighting skills including throwing a ladder, dragging a victim, rope tying, and other related skills.
Oliver earned a 1st place finish, while Ryan earned a respectable 3rd. This is the second year in a row Oliver has won States.
The next step for Oliver is the National Skills USA Competition, held in Atlanta, Georgia, in early June.
We are extremely proud of these two members for their demonstrated proficiency not only around the firehouse, but in academics as well. We wish them both luck in Atlanta. Stay tuned to social media as we provide updates about their progress! |
