| Looks like we are in for some nasty weather Monday afternoon. We will be under a severe weather watch condition that includes the likelihood of severe thunderstorms, high winds and possible tornado activity. Our members spent the morning checking equipment related to storm response so we will be ready if needed. Here are a few tips we are offering for your consideration: Ensure all lightweight furniture is brought inside or securely tied down. Be sure your cell phone is fully charged and you have a back up charging device. Consider filling your bathtub with water to have on hand in case power goes out. Ensure you have working flashlights and extra batteries. Do not use candles or any open flame for lighting. If you have a generator, make sure it is properly operating. If you need to use it, ensure it is outside with the exhaust pointing away from your living space. Know that in the event of a significant storm, first responder call volume will be higher than normal. This could result in a delayed response to low priority calls like trees down blocking roads. |
