| February 5, 2026, marks an especially important day in the history of the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department. At 8pm on this date, 39 residents of the town met at the North Beach Town Hall and decided to create an organized volunteer fire department. At this first meeting, 34 of the 39 members joined as active members, while 5 joined as associate members. Willard Ward was elected fire chief, H. R. Sanders was elected president, Harry J. Tucker was elected secretary, Oscar Marshall was elected treasurer, Jacob Delp assistant chairman, and Samuel Owings Sr., corresponding secretary.
The fledgling department had three pieces of apparatus, all hand pulled chemical engines. Willard Ward was the chief of #1 Engine in addition to being chief of department, W. H. Tucker was chief of #2 engine, and Jacob Delp was chief of #3.
From these humble beginnings, the department grew, received its state charter on August 4, 1926, and evolved into the organization that proudly serves "North Beach and Vicinity" today.
