| On Friday, January 9, 2026, at 4:35pm, Calvert County Emergency Communications sounded Area Box 106 for a house fire with a report of a person trapped in the 3700blk of 29th Street in Chesapeake Beach. Company 1 (North Beach) was first due, with units from Company 5 (Dunkirk), Company 6 (Huntingtown), Company 2 (Prince Frederick), Companies 42 and 9 (Anne Arundel County), PA 201 and PA 205 from Calvert County Emergency Services, M105 from Calvert ALS, and the North Duty Chief also assigned to the call. First arriving Engine 11 found smoke showing from a single-family residence and located a small fire in the basement at the dryer. All occupants were out of the structure. A single handline was advanced through a ground level entrance by Engine 11’s crew and the fire was quickly extinguished. Tower 1’s crew assisted with ventilation and overhaul. Chief 1B had command, assisted by Chief 6 (Huntingtown). Due to the quick fire control, Command held the Company 1 units and returned the rest of the assignment. The Red Cross was called to assist the occupants with their recovery. Your NBVFD reminds everyone to never leave your dryer running when you are not home, clean the dryer lint trap after each use, and have your dryer vent hose and any piping cleaned annually. |
