| On August 2, 2025, at 2131 hours, Water Rescue Box 112 was dispatched for the reported boat crash. Fireboat 1, PA219, Squad 1, Chief 1A, Safety 1 and Safety 1A responded as part of the assignment that included other Calvert County & Talbot County units.
Fireboat 1 arrived to find a pontoon style vessel that had crashed into the rock jetty. The fireboat crew made contact with the pontoon’s occupants, confirmed that all souls were accounted for (4), and worked to get them onto Fireboat 1 for safety. A single occupant was treated and released on scene for their injuries. Chief 1A held the command. The Department of Natural Resources Police are currently investigating the incident.
The NBVFD reminds everyone to ensure all occupants on a vessel have life jackets along with the required safety equipment. This equipment may save yours or someone else’s life on the water someday. |
