Tonight your NBVFD members held their monthly fire drill. This month we combined the fire and EMS drill into one cohesive drill.

We started the drill with going over new radio communications/operations for AACO that were just put in place this week and refreshed members on utilization of the F.A.S.T. board. After, we split members into three scenarios (EMS group, downed firefighter and rescuing a victim).

Each group rescued and transferred care to EMS. EMS went over signs and symptoms of CO poisoning, signs and symptoms of a burn victim and smoke inhalation. EMS also went over how to call for helicopter evacuation and when to call for the EMS supervisor who carries a cyano kit.

We had 40 members show up and participate in tonight’s combined drill.
