At 1323 hours, Tower 1 (SO1A) & Engine 12 were dispatched to the 180 Block of Buckler Road (218 box) for the working house fire. Units from Prince Frederick arrived to find a 1 story single family with fire showing and 1 subject trapped.

Tower 1 arrived as the 2nd Truck and performed vertical ventilation on the roof along with obtaining a hose line to extinguish fire in the roof & attic. Ladders and 2nd truck responsibilities were also accomplished. Engine 12 arrived as 4th Engine and established the Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) and stood by on side Alpha until released by command. Units from North Beach returned to service around 1515 hours.

Fortunately the trapped occupant was able to escape on their own but suffered smoke inhalation and was evaluated by an Ambulance on the scene. Unfortunately one pet did pass away. The American Red Cross responded to assist the 5 occupants who were displaced.

The NBVFD reminds all residents to ensure they have working smoke alarms at all times.
