At 0845 hours this morning, Area Box 616 was sounded for the reported basement fire. Engine 11, Squad 1, and Chief 1A responded on the box. Huntingtown units arrived on scene to find a one-story single family dwelling with fire showing from the basement and extension to the 1st floor, all occupants out of the house.

Engine 11 arrived on scene as 3rd due engine and picked up Engine 61’s line. Engine 11 assisted with supplying water to the fireground & extinguishment in the basement. Squad 1 arrived and assisted with extinguishment and overhaul on the 1st floor. Chief 1A was assigned Safety. Units operated for approximately 90 minutes before returning back to the Beach.

Two of the residents were assessed on scene for smoke inhalation. The Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

Your NBVFD reminds you to ensure your smoke alarms are properly operating at all times, and if a fire breaks out in your home, evacuate immediately and call 911. Do not attempt to fight the fire.
