SEARCH AND RESCUE TRAINING
Thursday, April 23, 2009
-
At 1900hrs. members headed over to Frederick Ave to train on a house donated to us from John Scott of Patuxent Properties. Members trained in search and rescue and down Firefighter scenarios. The members split up into groups of 4 and searched the entire house. A down firefighter was placed in the house and crews set out to find the firefighter and bring him/her to safety. Crews trained in using the buddy breathing system with our air bottles, and used rope and thermal imaging to track the firefighter. Crews had zero visibility. A big thanks goes out to Captain Orval Thrasher and Safety Officer Paul O'Conner for coming out to assist with this drill.
