Water rescue on the Chesapeake

Monday, March 28, 2016   On 3/28/16 water rescue box 106 was sounded for the subject in the water. Bringing on the call Chief 1 (Devere) Chief 1A (Keller) Chief 1B (Gooding) Ambulance 18 Engine 11 Rescue 1 and Brush 1/Zodiac 1(Capt.Morrison & Sgt.Hagan). Units received a report of a wind surfer that had fallen off of his board and was drifting out. Zodiac 1 launched and headed to the last known location of the surfer. Chief 1 arrived at brownies beach and established the command. Zodiac 1 soon gained sight of the subject. Due to rough seas the zodiac was assisted by a private boat out of the rod n reel marina. The zodiac and the private vessel made contact with the subject and the subject was pulled aboard the private vessel and taken back to rod n reel where ambulance 18 assessed him.



Brush Truck and Gator run large woods fire

Wednesday, March 23, 2016  On 3/22/16 just before midnight Brush 1 (Sgt.Hagan) was alerted for the large woods fire at the end of Ferry Landing Road in Dunkirk. Units from Co.5 arrived on location to find a large brush fire on the side of a cliff. Due to the steep hill side the fire had to be put out with brush trucks and Fireboat 83 (Benedict VFD) Brush 1 operated for 1 hour before returning to service. At 8:00am on 3/23/16 Brush 1 (Zalusky) and Gator 1 (Tyrell) responded to the same location for the large woods fire involving multiple acres. Brush 1 and Gator 1 arrived and assisted untis from co.5 and 6 with extinguishing the fire units operated for 3 hours before returning to service.



One Extricated in the 103 box

Monday, March 7, 2016  Around 2:30pm on 3/7/16 rescue box 103 was sounded for the single vehicle into the woods. Bringing on the call Rescue 1(Kendrick) and Ambulance 18 (Fto.Agambar&Emt Patterson). Units arrived to find a single vehicle into the woods with a subject trapped inside. Rescue 1 quickly started to extricate the patient by removing the whole driver side of the vehicle. The patient was then extricated and transported to a local hospital. Chief 1 "Alpha" had the 103 command.



Cedarwood Lane brush fire

Tuesday, March 1, 2016   On 3-1-16 brush 1 was dispatched to the 2900 block of cedarwood lane for the report of a brush fire. Brush 1 (Capt. Morrison) responded. Chief 6A (Morris) arrived on location to find a 1/2 acre of brush on fire behind a residence. Brush 1 arrived on location to assist company 5 and 6 with extinguishing the fire. While Brush 1 operated on that call engine 12 was operating on a brush fire as well on West Chesapeake Beach Road. Units operated for about 40 minutes before returning to service.



Governor Hogan Visits Company 1

Sunday, February 28, 2016  Company 1 was honored and thankful to have Governor Hogan come by the station Sunday afternoon and congratulate us on our 90 years of service. Gov. Hogan was named an honorary fire chief of comapny 1.



Co.1 celebrates 90th anniversary

Saturday, February 27, 2016   On Saturday 2-27-16 members and guest gathered to celebrate our annual awards banquet. This year we celebrated our 90th year of 100% volunteer services. The NBVFD responded to 987 fire calls and 1498 ems calls in 2015.

Monday, February 22, 2016   Congrats to Firefighter Chris Meador and his wife on the birth of their son Matthew he was 8lbs 12oz and 20inches welcome to the NBVFD family.








Sunday, November 1, 2015   At 1501hrs the North Beach VFD was alerted for a serious accident on Tobacco Road in the 101 Box involving a bicyclist.  Rescue 1(R.Whittington), Engine 11(R.Lockrow), and Chief 1 (Devere) responded on the call.  While en route units were advised that there were 2 patients and both had been struck by a vehicle.  One patient was pronounced dead on the scene and crews began life saving efforts on the second patient.  The second patient was transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital by Ambulance 68 (Huntingtown) where they succumbed to their injuries.  Chief 1(Devere) had the Tobacco Road command. 




Saturday, October 31, 2015   At 1617hrs North Beach VFD was alerted for a water rescue located in the area of Broad Water Creek in Anne Arundel County.  Utility 1 trailered Zodiac 1 to Deale Marina where it was launched.  The crew from Zodiac 1 responded to the mouth of Broadwater Creek where a small center console boat was found stuck on the bottom and taking on water.  The crew rescued 1 occupant from the sinking vessel and transported him safely back to shore.  Chief 42 had the incident command.
